Planning your party is the most important step in it's success. Make sure that what you are planning is always age appropriate. For instance, don't plan tie-dying for 4 year olds! Please see our unique tips for crafts & activities below. Our ideas are always changing so keep coming back!
Here are some tips followed with some party ideas.
1) Decide on a theme and stick with it. Whether your them is a tea party or a black & white affair. Make a decision and base everything else around it.
2) Make a decision on where you are going for supplies. Try to make it in one or two stops. You won't really be saving money if you are driving to 10 stores to get the best deal.
3) Make lists - very important: What to buy - Who to invite - What to do before party day - What to do party day - A time line of the party time.
What to buy, some suggestions: Tablecloth, Cake plates, Dinner Plates, Cups for all drinks being served, Napkins (include beverage napkins or paper coasters for adults), decorations, favor bags (don't forget to shop our site for party favors - save time!), Food items - make a menu and make sure you have everything you need.
Who to invite: Make a list and make out your invitiations early. Everyone is busy so make sure you give your guests enough notice. Don't make parties for small children too large or you will become overwhelmed. If you insist on a larger party for little ones, ask a parent or two to stay and help.
What do do before party day: Order the cake if you are not baking it, Make sure your video camera or camera is charged and/or you have batteries, pull out your serving dishes and bowls, ice bucket, serving pieces, put away any clutter that might get in the way, move tables and chairs if appropriate. Do any major housecleaning the day before the party.
Day of the party: Put up decorations, get a place ready for the cake and put the accessories out (i.e. candles, plates, etc), organize and set up any crafts, get any activities ready, set up the food. G
Set a Time line of the party: Put on music. From kids songs to soft rock to jazz music. It sets a great mood. Include time for your basic meet and greet, serving food, any activities and/or crafts, and your cake.
